Study in the Summer??

Posted on June 16, 2016 at 10:05 AM

Parents often ask what their children should be doing in the summer “for school”? I tell them this……Playing and reading!! Of course, playing means different things at different ages. But I define playing as anything other than ‘being on screens.’

Here is the homework list for the summer that I gave my students. Maybe you will like the list also:

  • Read, read, read!
  • Try to cook or bake something new.
  • Walk in the rain.
  • Hunt for tadpoles.
  • Write a letter to someone.
  • Go swimming.
  • Go to the library and take out a bunch of books.
  • Take a bike ride.
  • Draw and paint.
  • Start a new hobby.
  • Start reading a newspaper or magazine that you’ve never read before.
  • Walk in the rain.
  • Climb trees.
  • Start a journal.
  • Listen to music.
  • Go to a farmers’ market and try new fruits and veggies.
  • Have fun!
